The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Returning for its 13th edition from 2–6 February 2017, Collect – presented by the Crafts Council - offers an unrivalled opportunity to see and buy exquisite craft-led works by artists and makers represented by leading British and international galleries.

Over an extended run of five days, and filling all three floors of the Saatchi Gallery, Collect profiles the exceptional skill and intellectual rigour behind contemporary craft, featuring works in ceramics, glass, metal, wood and textiles alongside makers working in non-traditional materials with experimental techniques.  https://craftscouncil.yourticketbooking.com/events/COLLECT

CERF+ Receives Award of Distinction at ACC Conference

The American Craft Council (ACC) held its 12th national conference, "Present Tense" at Kaneko in Omaha earlier this month.  The conference featured panel and plenary presentations by artists and arts professionals on a range of topics such as apprenticeship, museum education, institutional leadership, process, criticism and more – all, as ACC Executive Director Chris Amundsen describes, “exploring the tensions between old and new, traditional and contemporary, and past and future as it affects our field today.”

The cash grant, which will be awarded for the first time in 2017 and be funded over two years, will recognize an artist between 35 and 55 years old who is making an active and substantial contribution to the art jewelry world. The grant will alternate yearly with the ongoing AJF Artist Award, which recognizes early career artists. That award will be given again in 2018.

In addition to Strauss, the other jurors for this initial grant cycle include grant founder and art collector Susan Beech and artist and academic Iris Eichenberg. Read an interview with Iris Eichenberg and Cindi Strauss where they shares their thoughts about the grant. The jurors were carefully chosen for the various perspectives they bring from the artistic community.

For complete guidelines for the Susan Beech Mid-Career Artist Grant, visit here https://artjewelryforum.org/ajf-announces-the-20k-susan-beech-mid-c.... Proposals must be received by midnight, MST, January 16, 2017. There is no entry fee to submit a proposal. Submit entry here. r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001aO93Iq_A7FjOoneP_9kxm_k7vKyMaGxi7vhTTk4kIKyA1c1_nusegqkFXi_4_rPQ067yh8ef-H6vDGUjLST2FzD_Pykht8Kdx3OLK544D9NlpNplo1Ko4O_dUOf8OYoJZ43ckDauN82akTbsLUGv1tdwjxERR9VpJtvBh2wIPMTjY7ObIrK5JqsWg6wGHLMe2C9N07w4J8nwTzFNVGynZunB3g-jDZ793CSOic25JqCXzQNYC4MxjQf45kzJCC5aeBqlCEP-JzybneV6Ha9_ti4tLvNfgS-3qI6OABhNR1VEUkMd8tq0CQQ9YM2YpHIdMfjl6MNTzeuO_jbGmsPpMBP4SUpZzZVTGC-Wsgj9OLQoZV3roGLbpqzF73-96Wns&c=ynuPFrKqfl9kf2zRTJyw3KeoKlpj7ir6o3jCMQExDh7AbYUOeKf2_w==&ch=0l7fHPhwI9PalclS7YwUgrMrH84JwUWODxNszxHDIJxx0JtfyL570g==
