This bracelet is a part of an inquiry into hollow forms in relation to holding space. While the Ansel bangle is rather large, it is also light. Empty except for the air of the location in which it resides. It silently begs the questions of what it means to hold space, for whom, when is it appropriate and how might it change us over time? It exhibits aesthetic features that are characteristic of Leigh Graham Designs' jewelry line in its simplicity in form and subtle use of geometric shapes and ratios that reference her fascination with the underlying beauty of the maths that shape the world around us.

The diameter of the inner band is standard bangle size at 2 1/2". Materials consist of brass and copper with silver lines and oxidized accents. Due to the nature of oxidation (darkening due to exposure to air) the high shine brass will gradually darken over time and the intentionally oxidized dark strip will continue to darken. As the piece evolves with these natural processes, thin, perfectly parallel silver lines around the inner and outer bands will become visible. These lines are a result of the hollow construction methods used to make the piece. We feel that this evolution is desirable and is a beautiful addition to the piece and its ongoing narrative.
