Toronto- ARTA Gallery
Dear all,
Here is some wonderful news I would like to share with you. My newest sculptural ring "Infinities" received the "Best in the Show 2009 Steel Trophy" award from the Metal Arts Guild of Canada. The ring will be exhibited during the "MAG 2067 - Crafting the Future" exhibition in Toronto from October 31 to Nov 19 at the
ARTA Gallery - 55 Mill Street, Building 9, Suite 102. Afterwards, the ring will be exhibited from November to March at the GTAA -- Greater Toronto Airport Authority Lounge at the Pearson Airport. For more information, please see below-
Looking forward to hearing from you- best, Claudio

---------------------------------------------+info

"MAG 2067 - Crafting the Future" is a juried exhibition of jewellery and metal arts on exhibit from Oct 31 to Nov 19, 2009 at ARTA Gallery in Toronto’s Distillery District, 55 Mill Street, Building 9, Suite 102. The guild asked its members to conceptualize what Canada would be like in 2067. Utopian or dystopian? They were given five possible futures to choose from, which are portrayed in hollowware, jewellery, sculpture and visual arts. Best in Show was awarded to Claudio Pino for his Kinetic ring, “Infinities” which was created for a zero gravity environment on a future Canadian Space Station.

Juried on Oct 13th, 2009, the judges: Sandra Noble Goss - Member and Metal Arts Guild's 2000 Steel Trophy winner, Bob McDonald host of CBC "Quirks and Quarks” and Jay Ingram, host of Discovery Channel "Daily Planet" awarded the prizes and made selections for inclusion in the exhibition.

This year is especially exciting for the metal artists as the exhibition has been chosen to travel to the GTAA (Greater Toronto Airport Authority) in the International Departures Lounge of Pearson Airport from the end of Nov to the beginning of March. The work will be viewed by thousands of travelers especially over the holiday season. So if you are traveling through Toronto over the next few months you'll get a chance to see the show. +
