Profile Information

Place of Work ? Example: Studio, College, Gallery, Museum, ...)
National Glass Centre, Sunderland
I am a .... Example: Student, Maker, Educator, etc.
Working mainly in glass and ceramics, Jessamy often combines the two materials in one piece. She refines her work using traditional handcrafted techniques such as engraving, diamond cutting and sandblasting.

Simple and elegant in style, each piece of art glass is a limited edition and is a signed original.

Based on a soft, sensitive aesthetic, her sculptural and sensual forms draw inspiration from diverse natural forms, landscape and the human body.

“Glass and ceramics are materials with many common qualities; processed in similar ways, they are transformed into functional or decorative objects. They are however, not often combined in artistic practise. The translucent blend of glass and ceramics intrigues me, when light passes through the materials to reveal an inner beauty and luminosity. This accord inspires me to combine glass and ceramics, examining their relationship in my studio work.”

Hey Jess, thanks for your invitation to join this site.
Normally I'm pretty crap about doing things like this (my presence on Facebook for example is lamentable !) but this time I took the plunge. The standard of work here is pretty impressive, including your own may I say!
Well back to the grindstone, I'm dragging these new pieces kicking and screaming to be ready for SOFA. at the weekend. Screech!
