First Hand

“First Hand,” will function as an ongoing collection of tips, musings, and information gained primarily from ‘first hand’ experience.  It will cover topics like: How I built a website from scratch, pricing and packaging, why Lady Gaga would wear your work, and a plethora of other exciting stuff  in between.   In addition to my own contributions, I will solicit the knowledge of others in the field in an effort to shed light on topics I have identified as vague but valuable in my own experience…See More

Hello Tavia, I hope you and your little ones are well. Your work looks great! I can't believe it has been almost 13 years since I graduated from ASU. Your work was always good and still is. Have a great holiday season. Happy metalsmithing!

Dear Tavia:

Welcome to crafthaus ! I am very glad you joined us.

At the moment, there is a surge in activity on the site, so if you would like to add some images of your pieces to your profile then a lot of people will be getting to see your work !

When you do that, please be sure to add the images via the PHOTO link at the top of the website or via your personal photo site. I noticed you already have some images on your own page, however these can only be viewed when someone accesses your page. These photos are not on the revolving top screen at the main site, unless that's what you want, please reenter the images as described :-) Sorry for the double work, it should not take a lot of time to do this though.

Also, please feel free to add your comments to the discussion topics that are already posted. Of course, if there is something else you'd much rather talk about, please add that to the site so that the rest of us can chime in.

I really hope you will enjoy being with this network and find the exchanges interesting and fun. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it, for sure.

If there are ever any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email me anytime. I will do my best to be of help.

Again: Welcome !

Interviewing NCECA 2013 Emerging Artist Linda Swanson

NCECA 2013 Emerging Artist Linda Swanson makes us think about ceramic materials in a new and dynamic way.  Her installation, site specific, fired and unfired work all has an emphasis on time, material and transformation.  Linda generously shared her time and thoughts with me about her current studio practice and the path that has led her there.  I hope you enjoy this interview with Linda Swanson.  You can see more of her work at: …See More
