I think I'm most creative on vacation when I can still "work"! I love to go on hunts for gems and rough stones with them in the mountains of North Carolina. The kids like to hunt and find stones too, so its something that we can all do together.
That's a great story, I totally relate to that. I know how that feels with the work during vacation. I have not had a decent vacation in years, but when we go away it is usually only for a week or so, and I look somewhat forward to it but dreading it at the same time. After a day scouting out the neighborhood, and another day enjoying the new surroundings, I start getting antsy looking for things TO DO. Sitting around is just not my idea of a good time. So on day 3, I usually start "finding" things to jolt my brain into creative mode. If I have something to do and think about, I AM actually the most happiest I could be. Vacation schmacation. :-)
What vacation spot would be the optimum for you ? Where could you vacation AND be creative ? Maybe I can pick your brain a bit here.
The rough garnets in the concrete, I found in the Pisgah Forest in Western North Carolina, while camping with my family. It was a funny little discovery. Everyone was playing in the water and fishing and I was sitting on the bank sifting through the sand finding this heavy little red rocks. I was so happy to have some "work" to do on vacation!
