Interdisciplinary. Community. Advocacy. Humor.
I made this piece for a monthly challenge on JewelryLessons.com We were asked to make a piece that expresses who we are as an artist and person.
First, my birthstone is red garnet, hence the choice of stone but this stone has a special meaning too. I found this stone on the floor in a jewelry store, being stepped on by customers. I brought it to the manager of the store and he appreciated me actually telling him about it so much that he gave it to me. So the stone was once lost but was found, just like me.
The texture is made using an original photopolymer plate that I made. This plate has a celtic design that represents my Irish/Scottish heritage.
I used metal clay for the setting which is my favorite medium in the whole world.
The back side represents what I am trying to do with my life which is shine my little light as best I can.
Thanks for stopping by!
