My current work is focused on the material of wood, it's identity and our relations to nature. Our Western culture is one of commodity. That which is not within this circle of trade and indulgence is trash. I see memory and value in wood and in the origin of the material. With this in mind I render my objects without completely removing their physical identity. A tactile memory, the bark, is left upon the piece giving one a visual connection to the original source it embodies. I am creating a direct physical element for the wearer that is about one’s personal connection to the environment. Through this work, I place value on the valueless.

I am from PA and lived in Rochester, NY for a while tooooo cold, the weather was 78 today and it is suppose to get to 85 on thursday. Have you ever considered using milk paint, it is such an easy product to use, works really well on wood, colors are viberant but come out dull, if you want it to be satin or semi gloss to gloss you just could apply some aerosol lacquer. Just a suggestion I use that product in my work and love it.
