"I keep all those records also, and we could file our own taxes, but stick with a professional. But, still, out of 130 new artists, a very small number will be jewelry. For some reason I am thinking of a Big Bang Show where Penny was going to…"
"I haven't seen the show, and I was paying more attention to the fact that there are three times as many people who are good that don't get in than the ones who do. It isn't as if artists were trying to get a book published, a writer…"
"Thank you Brigitte for this article. I will have to say that since I make jewelry, this is a show I should never apply to, because only 20 percent are new artists, and probably only one of them makes jewelry. I wonder if there are other shows in the…"
"I would agree with you Anne, I have seen other artists and myself receive an award for the booth, but not enough sales to even consider the show again. People buy things because of the way it makes them feel. I have seen your booth in person, and I…"
"That is a good idea, I have a list of past customers/fans, and I will put together a virtual coffee chat with email, and ask them how they describe my jewelry to others. They are too spread out to have an in person chat. "
"This is the problem for me, to choose a word the person who would buy my jewelry would use to look for it, I know they are out there, but just not sure where they are.
Contemporary, re purposed, avant garde, deconstructed? "
"I am bad about tagging my work, I do put my name in the ones on my web site, so if someone pins, my name will go with. The ring made from a baby doll hand, what kind of description would one give that, so that the person in an ocean on the other…"
"Once a woman was in my booth, and I could tell she didn't like the wabi-sabi look I go for. She asked how I determine my prices, and being in a mood that day, I said, "whatever I think I can get away with". Out she went! But, it…"
"Sooner or later anyone in retail should learn to not judge someone by any criteria, especially clothes. I try my best to be engaging to all, but when I am the customer, I get tired of the perky hopeful how are you chit chat from every single artist…"
"It sure is a challenge to make a dynamite display in a booth that is only "open" a few days a year, and a fraction of the budget of a retail store. It can be done, we just hope the jury remembers the challenge.
One of the things I keep an…"

Ooooo! Nummy! I'm still on the photo part of the submission. A friend who wants to get into this type of work is trying, but the results aren't spectacular yet, except for one. Plus, I'm holding out 'til this weekend as I'm determined to come up with yet another couple of pieces that I can choose from.
You are right about VDV . . . I'll be over the top with just one piece in that show!
Welcome to crafthaus, the network for fine craft artists and those who support them! I am very glad you joined us! Your crafthaus membership is valid through Feb 15, 2013.
Please look around and add your thoughts to the groups, blogs and discussions. Crafthaus is a participatory sport!
Please note that ALL images sent to the website editor are vetted to assure a measure of overall quality control. Unlike other image sharing websites, crafthaus is not a "free-for-all". Our members present their work in front of an educated and critical audience (their peers,) so the photos have to be GREAT. Our goal is to show our members' work in the best possible light. From the many images received daily, we aim to post as many as possible. Crafthaus heartily encourages comments from the membership, however, with regard to photos posted or not, we have a strict "NO WHINING" policy in effect! :-)
If there are ever any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email me via firstname.lastname@example.org anytime, I will do my best to be of help.
I hope you will enjoy being with this network, and will find the exchanges interesting and fun.
