Interdisciplinary. Community. Advocacy. Humor.
I recently had 2 major surgeries, the first in my life. The recovery time is much slower and more tedious than I expected. My major frustration is not being able to get back in the studio yet and make jewelry. So, to fill the hours, I've been reading.
A Lot.
I love to read, but really. Can we just go whack on some metal now?
I recently read this article published in the Scientific American about how the creative mind is indeed different than a "normal" mind (See link below). I love the fact that there is scientific evidence for my and many other artist's "eccentricities". I am lucky to live in a funky little town that not only tolerates eccentric lifestyles, it embraces them! Mix Pueblo Native Americans, Latinos, and a bunch of other folk from all over the world, and you get a rich mix. I'm actually relatively boring compared to lots of other "locals". I pay my bills and run a pretty tight business. But I also breathe a sigh of relief when I'm not chastised or ostracized for expressing unconventional thoughts. You should hear the conversation at some of our dinner parties!
I hope those who take the time to follow the link and read the article will let me know what they think!
