Okay, okay, so I didn't catch up in time. That means the next two weeks I'll be posting two processes in an attempt to make up for last month. My recent blog and 4PAM slacking isn't apathy related, I've just been juggling lots of projects. So if you happen to be one of my projects, I'll be right with you... really... soon... I'm thinking soon....
I finally had a chance to sit down and bezel set my enameled cab that was textured using Scratchfoam®, and it seemed a shame to just bezel set it in an ordinary pendant. I decided a locket with windows revealing the underside enameling would be in order. I also thought it'd be a good opportunity to demonstrate the same bezel set magnetic closure technique I used in my reliquary magnum opus "Anam Cara"from last year. The bezel cups are soldered into place then the magnets are bezel set inside, no epoxy is used, just good ole fashioned elbow, or in this case, knuckle grease. This is a pretty long PDF, but there are lots of juicy hyperlinks to neat tools and supplies. I suppose this is more of a demonstration than a tutorial, but maybe you'll find a technique or two you can take home with you... click on the first page below, it'll take you to where it's posted in Google Docs, you can download from there.
