Molly Aleza Vogel - a contemporary approach to carving jet

Jet is a type of lignite, a precursor to coal, and is a gemstone. It has an organic origin, being derived from decaying wood under extreme pressure. Jet is a deep, dark black. Vogel carves jet with an expert hand and she pushes this medium to delicious heights. Working in black seems very much like a piece of cake artistic decision. Quite the contrary. Vogel’s designs are well-thought, restrained and very dynamic. We’re especially fond of those that include just a modicum of well-chosen color.
