2Roses Monday’s Child - A Weekly Creative Shot in the Arm

Venessa Hogge - efflorescent flowersVanessa Hogge is inspired by all things botanical. She creates dahlias, chrysanthemums, dashes, hydrangeas and daphne in pristine white porcelain and black clay. Her compositions are efflorescent in that they “flower out” as though they were blooms from an internally held salt in water. Hogge’s work demonstrates the wonderful beauty that can be achieved…See More

Yong Joo Kim - the process of reconfigurationYong Joo Kim explores the value of the mundane, industrial material, velcro. She hand-cuts, sews and “reconfigures” it into wearable art. The result of her extensive, controlled exploration is quite literally beyond words. Being both subtle and in your face bold at the same time, Kim’s work stops you dead in your tracks. Kim is also a prolific…See More

Helen Britton - A Singular VoiceHelen Britton’s work is well known in the arena of art jewelry. The variety of materials she incorporates into her pieces is quite incredible - and they all work so very well together. Britton also uses herself as a model for her pieces. Ken Price - the discipline of working your voiceWe enjoy the connection between polymer clay and earth clay. Perhaps this is why we’re featuring another ceramicist for Monday’s Child. Shown is the earlier work of Ken Price, created in the late 1980s-early 1990s. What drew our attention was the discipline in the development of Price’s pieces. He’s taken a concept and has really pushed it to…See More
