One of the satisfying things about being prospectors, lapidaries, metalsmiths and jewelry designers is that that we engage in the entire piece from start to finish. This piece is a good example. We dug the stone out of the earth. The orbicular jasper was collected during one of our frequent prospecting trips along the California/Arizona border. The jade was collected several years ago during a trip to the Artic in Northern Alaska.
The two stones were joined in a process called "intarsia", and the final form was cut and set in a sterling silver mount. A hand-made forged silver chain was added to complete the piece.
Pendant 4.25 in H x 1in W x .25in D on a 24in chain.
