Canadian Craft is a thriving industry that supports independent artists.

Welcome to our Crafthaus blog on Canadian Craft. I am Rickson Salkeld and I'd love here your opinions on all things crafty in relation to Canada including:

Funding opportunities
Shows and exhibitions
Canadian online marketplace and the global market
The 'ethically produced trend' in Canada and abroad
Stores that sell handmade craft
Groups and Organizations
Individual Canadian artists

And any topics you feel are relevant to the Canadian Craft industry.

Thanks for your participation.

Creating some earrings based on this beautiful tree. 'The Arbutus is the only broadleaved evergreen tree native to Canada and it occurs in three red listed (endangered) plant communities in BC.'

Thanks Gera. So you focus more on specialty high end pieces? I find I need designs that are low cost and low labour for shows. The high end pieces I save for galleries, and my personal collection. :)

Circle Craft, cool. I'd love to know what it's like, maybe some people who have exhibited there can post here. :)

Thanks,

Rickson

Hi Gera,

What are the shows like in Vancouver?
Have you done the One of a Kind Show in Toronto, and/or Vancouver? I know Granville Island is a haven for the arts.

I'd love to have a discussion on shows in places other than Toronto if anyone would like to post one. :)

Great! You should join if you haven't already. You can let us know what it's like! Feel free to post here, or you can write me a paragraph to start in a new blog, or I could start a discussion on what it feels like to be a Canadian crafting around the world! :)
