Feedback on the work and the site. How do you like the layout? Ease of use? The prize winners compared to the other pieces selected for the show. We are making some changes for the next exhibition, to focus more on jewelry/wearable art. Really, any comment about any and all parts of the exhibition. All feedback is good, even if it is negative.

Speaking of on-line exhibitions, have you had the opportunity to view the 2009 Metal Inclinations Exhibiion? If so, what did you think? The Society for Midwest Metalsmiths is in the process of planning the 2010/11 exhibition and would appreciate any comments.

Great answer, it clearly reflects thoughtful approach to running a gallery.

In regards to STIMULUS. the show is online AND in the gallery. I have this great space that allows for people to come and see the work so why not use it. Also-very important, I want to hold the work in my hand. these are objects that people make- there are intricacies in scale and wearability that someone needs to decipher and then communicate about. Online sales work because people can call me up or email me and have an actual discussion about the work. Having the work here gives it context and continuity. On a practical side 1. you might save $10 by not having to ship the work to a gallery but the time and money spent packing and shipping the work out to different clients is saved. 2. I am responsible for credits, returns, and down the line when that lovely monofilament necklace falls apart while someone is wearing it- My job is to communicate concern and resolution to the client- this is not usually a simple matter. 3. I want to control how pieces look when someone gets them. If they purchase from my gallery it is important that there is a consistency (branding if you will) to the delivery.

I think there are ton of questions out there.
I have a question for you.

I was under the impression that the upcoming show sponsored by Sienna Gallery titled, Stimulus Plan is only or mostly an on line exhibition. Is that true? If it is an online exhibition, why did you have the artists ship the work to the gallery?

If an exhibition is truly online, it would save the artists money because they wouldn't have to ship the work to the gallery....and it would save the gallery money because they wouldn't have to ship work back to the artist when the show closes.

Just exploring the new world of online shows. Maybe it requires a new mind set all around.

Wish i could have been there for the Saturday discussion- had to get back to the gallery. Glad it was helpful to the participants- perhaps there are no more questions...

Thanks for participating on the panel during the Professional Development Seminar. The response to the PDS has been overwhelmingly positive. Wish we could have continued with our discussion longer on Wednesday as we didn't get to explore the possibility as much as we had hoped.

Our lunch discussion on Saturday was very animated and dynamic. With a smaller group, comments were flying! We were getting to the core of important issues.
