Behind the Brooch

This exhibition focuses on a side of the brooch we usually do not pay much attention to: the back side. Our first look is naturally always trained at the front, but when we do take the time to look at the back of a brooch, it will oftentimes reveal a surprising aspect for us, a delightful little secret. With this exhibition, I would like to let you in on that secret, something that typically only the maker and the wearer know about. I hope you will enjoy with me this selection of brooches by…See More

I would be interested in hearing from others what equipment and lighting they use in photographing

Hello Rachel,

Good to hear from you. Glad you like the background music. It's not mine but by Darlene and Jonathan Edwards who concern themselves mainly with spoofing other people's music. They are hi.la.ri.ous. I just could not resist putting this up.

Here is a cover from one of their cd.s in case you are interested. You can get this on Amazon.

Darlene is viewed as a pioneer of modern musical parody, having won a Grammy for BEST COMEDY ALBUM in 1961.

Hi Rachel,

To answer your recent question...my pendant, "Hot Stuff", is vitreous enamel on copper. Great fun to make!

Thanks for your interest!

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for your comment on my work! This past year I participated in my schools fashion/jewelry collaboration. 3 jewelry students were selected and paired up with two fashion designers each. We collaborated for about a year together then had a fashion show. That's how I got the beautiful dresses.

It's those flux fumes. A natural antioxidant. Keeps me looking young. ;-). Actually, the picture is a few years old.

That screaming into pillows seems like something I would remember, but it doesn't ring a bell. Then again, I don't have as many bells as I used to.

Could it have been in Paris or London or Amsterdam? You have me intrigued.

Hi Rachel. Sounds like me. How many years ago was that? I was in Germany a few years ago for the Schmuck exhibition in Munich. Was the Germany enamelist Bettinna Dittleman? She is the one that jumps out in my memory.

Or was it somewhere else in Europe?

What Have I Been Up To?

Since returning from Istanbul, it has been non-stop in the workshop, preparing work for orders and making some new pieces too. I've sidelined a number of works-in-progress in order to get on with more pressing issues, so there are no updates on my Chanel-inspired piece or my tribute to Alexander McQueen, though I have progressed apace with my first foray into electronics in jewellery, "14th Century Nightlife" which I hope to finish finally this coming week after it sitting on my bench for…See More
