Are the Craft Crowds Buying?

Hi folks. I'm pretty new to Crafthaus, but thought I might chip my 2 cents worth it. I don't really do much in the way of shows anymore, I got kind of burned out on them. I make high end, arty knives…

This is amazing work. I'd like to do things on this scale, but the TIME involved. What did you price this at, if you don't mind me asking? I'm thinking $20K.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the complements. The 1st Asian Table sold out of a gallery in Chelsea NYC. That resulted in a commission for a conference table & display case for the CEO's office Its intricate work but pleasant hand work. I hope to see more of your work, I would like to hear about what new pieces you are doing. Thanks, Glen

Michael, your wood hoard reminds me of my Dad, who carves song birds, waterfowl and fish. He has a stash of wood that he couldn't get through if he lived to be 300 years old!

Hi Michael, thanks. I like your work too. It harks back to a time when craftsmanship & swordsmanship & skill with knives were on a par.
Are they purely decorative, or do you hone them to a scary level of sharpness?

Hmmm well, I guess I don't have a forge and from that book I read, It's really over the top for me to build one..not only that but it's against code here:))hahaha I did see somewhere some Aussies were making the blades out of pmc paper, so I thought about checking into that. I don't think fine silver could hold up, so I guess it would be ceremonial...but that's ok. Any ideas?

Hello, Michael - glad to hear you like my pieces, and yes there are subtle sensual references, as there are in your pieces, too.

Welcome to Crafthaus and glad to see you found The Society for Midwest Metalsmiths, too!
